As a system integrator, JRI offers services in IT strategy planning, implementation and outsourcing to a broad range of industries and activities. JRI Singapore currently supports the overall IT functions of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in Asia Pacific Region.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead implementations of enterprise-grade database solutions that meet regulatory, security, availability, scalability and performance requirements for banking industry. 
  • Contribute to organizational strategy by planning database services to support business demand analysis, technical architecture and service delivery across database platforms. 
  • Collaborate with global and regional architecture teams to evaluate, design and standardize database technologies and solutions aligned with strategic direction. 
  • Proactively develop and maintain the database technology landscape, guiding modernization and rationalization efforts across regions. 
  • Create and maintain engineering and architectural documentation for database platforms as standard references. 
  • Engage with business units, application teams and branches to understand requirements and design database services that are effective, secure and aligned with business goals. 
  • Lead database engineers and implementation teams in detailed design and deployment of database solutions based on approved high-level architecture. 
  • Coordinate across hybrid cloud environments (on-premises and cloud) to deliver database services including working with external vendors and offshore partners to encourage the best collaborations and bring the power of synergy. 
  • Design and implement database platforms, including high availability, disaster recovery, monitoring and performance tuning. 
  • Review current database service across regional offices and branches to propose technological centralization and transformation following IT strategies. 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or equivalent, with approximately 10 years of experience delivering enterprise database services in financial institutions. 
  • Prior experience as a solution architect specializing in database services within multinational banking environments, with strong understanding of MAS regulations. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across diverse teams and geographies. 
  • Strategic and analytical thinking with a track record of implementing innovative database solutions that enhance performance and reliability. 
  • Experience in designing scalable, resilient database architectures integrated with enterprise systems, middleware, and data platforms. 
  • Proficiency in database technologies including Azure SQL DB, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, and cloud-native database services. 
  • Familiarity with system integration patterns, enterprise architecture frameworks, and cloud computing services. 
  • Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, cloud solution architect, or database-specific credentials are highly desirable. 
  • Hands-on experience in related infrastructure domains such as storage, virtualization, and identity management is a plus.
