The Japan Research Institute (JRI) Limited is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Group. JRI provides comprehensive, highly value-added information services through the coordinated application of its 3 functions. i.e. information systems, consulting and think-tank. As a system integrator, JRI offers services in IT strategy planning, implementation and outsourcing to a broad range of industries and activities. JRI Singapore currently supports the overall IT functions of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in Asia Pacific Region.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver cloud infrastructure projects that drive business growth and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Shape IT strategy through technical planning and platform modernization towards cloud service.
- Propose strategic recommendations based on emerging technologies and business requirements.
- Oversee all aspects of cloud infrastructure platforms - compute, storage, network, identity domains.
- Establish and maintain architecture blueprints, engineering standards, operational manuals, procedures and runbooks.
- Drive cloud infra automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD to accelerate delivery and reliability.
- Lead cloud migration and transformation initiatives with minimal disruption and maximum value.
- Champion cloud security, compliance, and cost optimization across all services.
- Mentor and inspire a high-performing team of cloud architect, engineers in a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
- Collaborate with architects, application teams, external vendors, and offshore partners to ensure strategic alignment and synergy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, with substantial exposure to cloud architecture and platform leadership within financial institutions.
- Strong understanding of MAS regulations and compliance frameworks. Prior experience in a similar role within a multinational banking environment.
- Proven expertise in hybrid cloud environments (Azure preferred), enterprise architecture, system integration and cloud-native technologies.
- Proficiency in major cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including their services and tools.
- Experience in successfully migrating on-premises infrastructure to the cloud.
- Strong knowledge of securing cloud environments and implementing identity and access management.
- Having functional, development knowledge in at least one of the following technical domains:
- Database: Azure SQL DB, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle
- Storage: Azure Storage, SAN
- Containers: Azure RedHat Openshift, Azure Kubernetes Service
- IAM: Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory
- Network: Azure NSG, Firewalls, Proxies
- Virtualization: Azure VM, Broadcom VCF/VVF, Nutanix
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools such as Jenkins, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
- Strong people management skills including recruitment, performance appraisal, mentoring, coaching, and team motivation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across regions and departments.
- Ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and external partners.
- Excellent problem-solving skills in cloud environments, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and optimize performance.
- Certifications in TOGAF and Cloud Architecture (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.
