JRI Singapore currently supports the overall IT functions of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in Asia Pacific Region.
Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead Payment projects from initiation to closure, ensuring deliverables meet business requirements and quality standards.
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
- Own and be responsible for the successful delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, meeting requirements and within allocated budget.
- Manage project lifecycle, from requirement, design, technical construction, testing, acceptance, training, documentation and implementation, post implementation support in accordance with the Project Management Process and Methodology
- Drive adherence to delivery methodologies, governance, and control processes.
- Manage a team of Developers, System Analysts, Quality Assurance Testers and offshore partners.
- Monitor progress, manage risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Work with the other Project Managers on the overall project plan from the platform, infra team and system delivery & release perspective
- Ensure that planning and execution (design, development, testing) for the system delivery teams are aligned to the overall project plan
- Ensure that the list of deliverables is defined and understood within the various system delivery
- Coordinate the day to day running of the project’s system delivery teams
- Provide timely update to the Payment Team Manager for the system delivery progress status, risk, issues and escalation
- Provide timely update to JRIS Management team for the system delivery progress status, risk, issues and escalation
- Facilitate all system delivery technical matters, escalation, issues and resolution
- Work with Bank’s IT Project Managers, Business Analysts, JRIS teams - solution architect team, payment application team, System Analyst team (SA) and Quality Assurance (QA) testing team and vendors to ensure that the platform, infra and system technical deliverables are on schedule, to the agreed specification requirement, reviewed and quality assured
- Ensure post implementation support with Information Technology Services (ITS) are engaged earlier in the project, align time and resources, to the overall project scheduled
- Perform the role of liaison person and communication bridge for the system delivery teams as well as Head Office systems
- Analyse and highlight project risks and develop necessary risk mitigation plans.
- Analyse and highlight project dependencies to pre-empt project issues
- Maintain project issue register to keep close match of the project issues till their resolution.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with Bank’s IT Project Manager Business Analysts, JRIS teams - solution architects, payment application team, System Analyst team (SA) and Quality Assurance (QA) testing team, Information Technology Services (ITS) and vendors to ensure alignment on project scope and timelines.
- Effectively communicate project progress, status, and key decisions to stakeholders, including senior management, and provide regular updates on project metrics, risk and dependencies.
- Provide timely status reporting and escalate issues when necessary.
- Support the Payment Team Manager by providing detailed project insights.
Team Leadership & Resource Management
- Manage project teams and third-party vendors to ensure high performance and delivery excellence.
- Facilitate effective communication and foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability, ensuring strong cross functional teamwork and alignment to project goals and objectives
Quality & Compliance Assurance
- Ensure all projects comply with the bank’s IT governance, audit, and risk policies.
- Participate in post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent with min. 8 years of experience in IT Project Management in the financial industry in the payment domain.
- Demonstrates good knowledge and technical proficiency in corporate banking cross border payment area and project management.
- Experience in managing the entire software development practices, various development methodologies and implementation.
- In-depth knowledge on Project Management and Business Analysis.
- Possess strong leadership, capable of managing stakeholders and maintaining relationships in large scale projects.
- Strong team management skills, influencing skills and collaborative team player.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Strong delivery management experience, with proven track records in managing and steering projects towards smooth execution and on time delivery.
