Job Responsibilities

  • Post expense transactions, process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records.
  • Process Employee Reimbursements.
  • Provide other clerical support necessary to pay the obligations of the organization.
  • Maintain meticulous records of outstanding payables.
  • Ensure the accuracy of SMBC’s financial documents for payment, auditing, and tax purposes.
  • Protect SMBC against unintentional overpayment.
  • Practice effective monitoring to ensure payments are made to vendors/employees in a timely manner.

Day-to-Day duties may include:

  • Clarify any questionable invoice items, prices or receiving acknowledgement.
  • Assemble and review invoices to be completed for payment.
  • Type periodic reports and other records.
  • Obtain proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments.
  • Prepare entries in TEXP mentioning Narration, PL Code, Invoice no., Invoice date, Invoice Amount, TDS etc.
  • Reconcile bank statements.
  • Keeping record of all invoices/employee reimbursement received.
  • Verify invoices against purchase orders and ensure goods or services were received before issuing payment to vendors.

  • An understanding of bookkeeping and accounting skills.
  • An understanding of India Direct & Indirect tax:
    • Income Tax, With-holding Tax, Tax Deducted at Source, etc.
    • Goods & Services Tax, etc.
  • Accounting rules and standards for financial reporting.
  • Analytical skills
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Computation skills
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools:
    • Word
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint
  • Experience in AP – ERP
  • 5+ year experience in a Chartered Accountancy firm
  • 4+ years’ experience in any organization in the accounts payable function managing India related payments
  • A degree in the following subjects:
    • Finance or Economics
    • Commerce
    • Accounting
