Role Overview
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) will support the execution of credit risk management activities, with a focus on underwriting and counterparty credit risk for Capital Markets and Global Markets businesses in APAC (ex-Japan).
The role is primarily execution-focused, supporting senior team members, including the Executive Director (ED), in governance, reporting, analytics, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
1. Risk Frameworks & Governance (Support Role)
- Support the implementation and execution of established risk governance and control frameworks.
- Assist in maintaining and updating risk management documentation (policies, procedures, and guidelines).
- Prepare and compile materials for risk reporting and governance-related requirements under guidance from senior team members.
- Support ongoing monitoring of adherence to internal policies and frameworks.
2. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Support data collection and consolidation across credit, market, and macroeconomic areas.
- Perform data analysis to identify basic trends, exposures, and potential risk areas, with guidance from senior team members.
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports for internal stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in the preparation of portfolio reviews and presentations for senior management.
3. Risk Committees & Reporting Support
- Support the preparation of materials for Risk Committees, including drafting presentation materials, managing documentation, and taking meeting minutes.
- Track and follow up on action items and deliverables arising from committee discussions.
- Ensure timely coordination of reporting requirements across teams.
4. Stakeholder Coordination & Project Support
- Support coordination of discussions with internal stakeholders across APAC and Head Office (Tokyo), under guidance from senior team members.
- Assist in ongoing risk initiatives and projects, including information gathering and documentation.
- Work closely with various internal functions such as Front Office, Risk Management, Finance, and Compliance.
5. Additional Responsibilities
- Contribute to improvements in reporting processes and data management practices.
- Support regulatory, audit, and internal review requirements as needed.
- Perform other ad-hoc tasks assigned by senior management.
Key Competencies
- Basic understanding of credit risk and counterparty risk concepts.
- Familiarity with financial markets products is advantageous but not required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and stakeholder management ability.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a financial institution.
- Exposure to credit risk or financial markets is desirable but not mandatory.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
