Job Responsibilities
1.1 Transaction support to Relationship Managers:
- Provide execution support to all transactions booked in Singapore by taking ownership of the loan booking process from end-to-end including coordinating with clients, internal and external parties.
- Help Relationship Managers with pre-deal work like maintaining deal pipeline, computing deal profitability, preparing account plan and call reports.
- Independently manage relationships and transactions for clients in Frontier Markets.
- Provide proactive support on account maintenance activities like documentation, reporting etc by engaging and collaborating with the client and internal stakeholder including Credit, Legal and Compliance and relevant ops teams as required to ensure the clients expectations are met or exceeded.
- Other - help with account openings, NDA signing, documentation, co-ordination of deposit placements, loan disbursements & loan maintenance including upkeeping of changes to customers’ administrative documents.
1.2 Risk & Compliance
- Take personal responsibility for understanding the risks and compliance requirements of the role.
- Understand and comply with SMBC policies & procedures, Code of Conduct and applicable laws and regulations.
- Engage and co-ordinate with external Legal Firms, Legal & Compliance department of SMBC, Documentation units and Credit Middle Office on loan and ISDA documentation.
- Obtain approvals for deviations from internal policies from relevant approvers during transaction execution.
- Follow through to ensure documentation completion and validate limits are correctly loaded / reflected in operating systems.
- Ensure document deficiencies are minimised, tracked and are rectified in a timely manner.
1.3 Team Work & Support
- To proactively innovate and improve the current way of doing business
- Work with product partners, control functions, middle office and overseas branches to ensure seamless execution of transactions.
- Help the GFIG team and co-Heads, where needed, with adhoc requirements.
Job Requirements
- A bachelors degree in Accounting, banking & finance or equivalent in the similar field.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience as Client Service Manager or junior Relationship Manager with international banks/major financial institutions.
- Working knowledge of loans syndications, Transaction banking, Global Markets, Liability management etc.
- Exposure to various products like long term derivatives and swaps, debt capital markets products, structured deposit products etc is desireable
- Strong understanding of client delivery processes and adherence to standards and controls.
- Strong product knowledge including cross-product operational knowledge and / or experience.
- Understanding of the regulatory and compliance environment in the APAC markets
