Reporting to the Team Head Credit Portfolio Management Group, Sydney (CPM, SFDA); we have a newly created opportunity to join the Front Office portfolio management team. The primary responsibility of this Front Office role is to manage the ongoing credit and Front Office administrative processes for a portfolio of Structured Finance transactions. This includes continuous interaction with SFDA origination team, liaising with middle and back-office departments to manage administrative processes, monitoring of borrower financial performance and covenants, preparation of credit submissions (routine monitoring and consents and waivers), and preparation of reports to Head Office.

 

This position will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

 

  • As part of origination process, ensuring transaction continuity from SFDA origination team to Portfolio Management team.
  • Assisting and advising SFDA origination team in relation to new transactions (in particular regarding Credit Grading).
  • Preparing annual credit review memos and other ad-hoc reviews to submit to Credit Department.
  • Preparing consent/waiver/refinance/restructure proposals/memos in co-operation with the SFDA origination team to submit to Credit Department.
  • Monitoring assigned transaction, including routine monitoring requirements (financial accounts, construction/operation reports, covenant compliance etc.), key performance indicators, media etc. with reporting to management.
  • Monitoring of borrower compliance with approved terms and conditions (as per loan documentation) and monitor usage against credit limits for Derivative exposures.
  • Assisting in portfolio forecasting and portfolio construction analysis whilst also providing assistance with asset sale processes (management of due diligence materials, sale documentation, settlement).
  • Implementing required ongoing credit monitoring procedures; responding to queries from Credit Department and assisting with client Know Your Customer (KYC) periodic reviews.
  • Undertaking other tasks requested and/or assigned by management.
  • Assist in enhancing the reputation of SMBC as a preferred Project / Structured Finance Bank.

 

 

To succeed in this role, you will have:

 

  • 5 + years credit risk experience within Structured/Project Finance, Corporate Banking or Credit Risk environment with a Bank or Financial Institution.
  • Good understanding and ability to interpret financial statements, thorough understanding of banking practices and processes of the role of credit within a bank.
  • Strong knowledge of financial products (in particular Loans and Derivatives).
  • Strong understanding of banking practices and processes associated with credit control and related administration.
  • High level of numeracy and strong financial analysis skills, and the ability to conduct financial modeling.
  • Strong influencing skills both in writing through presenting a persuasive argument and verbally when handling objections.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a focus on ability to manage multiple projects and meet agreed timeframes.
  • Ability to condense complex issues into a readable format in report writing or through other communications.
  • Tertiary qualification in a financial or related field.
