The Role

Director, Enterprise Data Hub leads the build-out and operationalisation of the APAC Enterprise Data Hub and Lakehouse ecosystem. This is a critical leadership role within the Data Management function, accountable for building governed, scalable data foundations that power analytics, AI/GenAI, regulatory reporting, and enterprise-wide data consumption.The role owns the data ingestion and curation layers (Bronze and Silver) within the Lakehouse medallion architecture, drives the creation of trusted, reusable data assets, and serves as the regional subject matter authority on Data Hub integration standards and data practices.

 

Responsibilities

Data Hub Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and drive the Enterprise Data Hub and Lakehouse roadmap — translating strategic priorities into a clear platform vision, onboarding agenda, and phased delivery plan
  • Drive the evolution of the medallion architecture (Bronze → Silver → Gold) to support analytics, AI/GenAI, regulatory reporting, and data product enablement
  • Champion a "data as a product" approach — reusable assets, self-service consumption, and governed data sharing
  • Embed governance-by-design across all data onboarding and integration initiatives

Data Platform Ownership, Onboarding & Integration

  • Accountable for the quality, governance, and standards of the data ingestion (Bronze) and curation (Silver) layers
  • Ensure data is cleansed, conformed, and structured to support trusted downstream consumption
  • Set and maintain standards for data quality, business entity alignment, canonical data modelling, and master data conformance
  • Partner with architecture, engineering, and Data Governance tooling teams to operationalise metadata, lineage, and data quality controls
  • Lead data onboarding across multiple business domains and countries with a structured, prioritised roadmap aligned to business value, regulatory urgency, and strategic intent

Programme Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead large-scale cross-functional programs spanning business, technology, governance, and vendors
  • Establish clear governance structures, delivery cadences, and executive reporting to maintain transparency and momentum
  • Manage dependencies across regional and global stakeholders to drive successful outcomes

Governance, Regulatory Compliance & Global Standards

  • Ensure platform activities comply with BCBS239, local regulatory data governance requirements, and internal standards
  • Operationalise data quality, metadata, lineage, and stewardship requirements; maintain audit trails and change control
  • Ensure alignment with global data platform principles, adapting for local regulatory and architectural requirements
  • Represent regional perspectives in global forums to drive consistent adoption of enterprise data practices

Stakeholder Engagement & Team Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology stakeholders on data platform capability
  • Drive adoption through strong engagement, communication, and change leadership
  • Build and lead a high-performing Data Hub team — hiring, coaching, and performance management
  • Manage vendor relationships and oversee delivery quality from external partners

Requirements

  • 12–15+ years in enterprise data or data platform leadership, preferably in banking or regulated financial services
  • Proven track record leading Data Hub, Lakehouse, or data platform transformation programmes at scale
  • Demonstrated ownership of enterprise data platform layers, including ingestion and curation in a medallion or equivalent architecture
  • Strong experience managing complex, multi-country, cross-functional programmes
  • Deep understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata, lineage, and regulatory frameworks including BCBS239
  • Working knowledge of data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) and Master Data Management
  • Hands-on familiarity with Databricks, Azure Data Platform, Unity Catalog, Delta Sharing, Collibra or equivalent stack
  • Experience building and leading hybrid teams (onshore, offshore, vendor)
  • Strategic thinker who translates ambiguity into clear direction and measurable outcomes
  • Strong communicator across executive, business, and technical audiences
  • Delivery-oriented with the rigour to manage multi-year programmes at pace
  • Comfortable in regulated, multi-country environments — balances compliance with transformation speed
  • Effective at managing vendor ecosystems and building sustainable internal capability
