The successful applicant will join the Singapore based team which is focussed on spearheading the development of SMBC’s Macro Investor sales franchise around Singapore as a hub for South East Asia. The team is thriving on closer collaboration and a wide product suite in several asset classes (Interest Rates, FX and FI). This role will help that growth; building new relationships and increasing revenues and connectivity with existing clients.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with traders and group colleagues to market FX and Rates products and perform client servicing duties to sophisticated institutional Investor Sales clients in based in Singapore focusing on hedge funds as well as other key investor groups.
- Monitor and send market updates including trade ideas based on market movements, working in collaboration with traders, economists and strategists.
- Work with e sales to increase our penetration of electronic trading platforms including but not limited to FXConnect, FXGo, FXT, 360T, Tradeweb, ALLQ.
- Help identify new client wallet opportunities and expand flow business with existing clients driving ever increasing connectivity and client engagement to meet revenue targets.
- Interact and collaborate closely with other internal stakeholders and their teams across the group on client management issues, including risk, relationship management, legal, settlement and operation where permitted.
- Keep abreast of regulations and have strong risk control awareness to ensure compliance with limits and regulations.
- Be able to mentor more junior colleagues on the team, having a can do attitude with a strong commitment to doing the right thing
- Take on a share of responsibility to help develop best practice around business process, helping to solve roadblocks, whilst still making the most of the current situation.
Job Requirements
- Good bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, commerce or engineering.
- Min. 10 years’ experience in EM Macro/Interest Rate/Fixed Income/FX/FX option or Commodity Derivatives (sales / structuring) with experience covering institutional clients.
- A proven track record of establishing real lasting relationships with clients and colleagues.
- An established client base across hedge funds is advantageous
- Ability to run client presentations and influence stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Disciplined, consistent and hungry approach preferred to fulfil and exceed both client expectations and internal KPIs and other performance metrics as needed.
- Familiarity with Electronic Platforms and the ability to work with them to increase penetration and closer relationships
