SMBC Asia Innovation Centre is focused on incubating, initiating, and implementing digital change initiatives to enable and bolster the Corporate Banking business in Asia. Working together with key lines of business, the Asia Innovation Centre is tasked to enable the setup and growth of Digital businesses for the bank, across embedded finance, ESG and Digital Asset domains.

The Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the GM of Asia Innovation Centre, this role will lead the new digitally enabled business developments in alignment with the bank’s digital strategy. This includes designing new business schemes in collaboration with customers, tech players and SMBC Group companies and leading the implementation of these schemes. This role will define and manage the end-to-end program and specifically work with SMBC APAC teams to achieve stated business outcomes.

 

Strategy

  • Design specific business schemes in line with strategic priorities and focus areas for Asia Innovation Centre, esp. in collaboration with SMBC cross regional teams.

  • Determining the benefits (financial/non-financial, direct/indirect) of delivering the Digital initiatives for stakeholder.

  • Define the Target Operating Model (TOM) integrating components of people, process, and ecosystem partners to implement Digital business schemes. Includes definition of business case, vendor partner strategy and internal resources planning in support of delivering defined Digital initiatives.

  • Strategic Change Management to identify capability changes and blockers to be addressed during implementation to ensure the successful delivery of each initiative.  

Business enablement and Project management

  • Developing action-oriented initiatives and plans in consultation with business leaders and management team with clearly defined KPIs and business outcomes.

  • Support framework and methodology to develop Go-to-market plan, run pipeline development initiatives along with key business leaders.

  • Planning and driving implementation actions, together with relevant functions to enable regulatory, legal entity, policy, and procedural changes.

  • Stakeholder management and engagement approach to facilitate the design and delivery of digital initiatives.

  • Appropriately manages the risks that may arise from Digital projects to the Bank and to the stakeholders supported.

 

Job Requirements
 

Business and Technical Requirements

  • at least 10 years of professional experience in a relevant capacity

  • at least 8 years of banking and digital experience is desired

  • Agile project management experience  

 

Characteristics Experience, & Degree

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree. MBA degree will be a plus
  • Strong strategic thinking, use of data and logic to backup decisions and improve understanding.

  • Entrepreneurial and ability to work autonomously and take ownership.

  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders.

  • Effective cross-functional collaborator.

  • Able to frame an issue or opportunity from first principles.

  • Flexibility & adaptability to adjust priorities according to changes in business needs.
