Key Responsibilities

  1. India Business Governance & Control Framework
  • Lead the design and enhancement of governance frameworks covering BC India business management, internal controls, and operating discipline.
  • Establish standardized management processes, board/committee reporting, and decision-making protocols across India entities.
  • Strengthen transparency and consistency in governance practices across banks, NBFCs, joint ventures, and group companies.
  1. Japan & Regional Connectivity (HQ–RHQ–India)
  • Coordinate governance, reporting, and planning flows between India, Tokyo HQ, and Singapore RHQ.
  • Ensure timely and clear communication of business performance, risk topics, and strategic initiatives.
  • Build unified cross‑border business management standards aligning India with global SMBC expectations.
  1. Strategic Transformation Initiatives (WOS)
  • Serve as a core member of India transformation agenda, ensuring readiness for WOS incorporation.
  • Support PMI execution ensuring alignment in operating models and risk architecture.
  1. India Business Planning, Performance & Portfolio Oversight
  • Drive planning cycles, financial oversight, and KPI management for India wholesale.
  • Monitor revenue, RWA, efficiency, and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Design MIS and reporting architecture for senior management.
  1. Internal Partnership Management
  • Collaborate with Risk, Finance, HR, Compliance, Legal, Ops, and Strategy across regions.
  • Coordinate with SMBC Group companies to align governance and business development.
  1. People Leadership & Cross-Border Team Development
  • Lead and mentor a cross-border team in SG and India.
  • Promote transparency, accountability, and global mindset.
  • Develop talent pipeline for future-state India operations.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • 15+ years experience in wholesale banking/business management.
  • Knowledge of India regulatory environment and multi-entity governance.
  • Experience in cross-border coordination with HQ/RHQ.
  • Experience with restructuring, integration, or PMI.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Structured, organized, and strong risk/control awareness.
