Reporting to the Managing Director, GTBD, Asia Pacific; this is a newly created opportunity in Australia and the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the GTBD Sydney team of Transaction Banking Business sales, product development and customer support related operation.
This position is responsible for:
- Leading & motivating a team in managing transaction banking relationships for corporate banking with an aim to increase operating income and wallet share across all products.
- Sourcing of new corporate relationships linked to existing relationships and their subsidiaries, joint ventures, dealers, vendors, and other linked constituents.
- Collaborate with Cash regional team and trade regional team seamlessly in pursing business in line with regional direction.
- Develop long term business relationships with the Japanese and Non-Japanese Corporate Banking teams.
- Managing and delegating business sales pipeline and leads tracking.
- Evaluate and initiate business Sales process improvement within acceptable timeline to support business growth and customer centricity.
- Propagate a compliance first approach within the team and strive to maintain continuous compliance of the policies / procedures with prevailing practices / regulations promulgated by the respective regulators as compliance main PIC.
- Coordinate and correlate with all product partners and other channels within SMBC to drive and deepening the wallet size and increase market utilization of TB solutions and services through tactical account planning.
- Participate in appropriate business associations, networks and activities relevant to SMBC's interests.
- Report to and co-work with branch management on a regular basis/as needed.
To succeed, you will have:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Transaction Banking, with strong expertise in customer sales, banking operations, and systems.
- At least 7 years of experience in leading sales teams within a banking environment.
- Proven track record in strengthening business sales pipelines and achieving revenue targets.
- Ability to lead strategic discussions with senior management and influence decision-making.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with a proactive and team-oriented mindset. Strong customer centric mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Japanese (business-level verbal and written) is desirable but not essential.
