1. Business Development and Marketing

- Plan and execute business development and marketing activities for ICIB Singapore (India Corporate and Investment Banking Singapore) in accordance with approved business plans and strategies.

- Support onboarding of new clients and expansion of existing client relationships, with particular emphasis on Singapore credit and trade finance activities.

- Work closely with ICIB Onshore teams and product partners to identify and develop cross-border business opportunities.

- Contribute to preparation of business plans, budgets, and performance reviews for the team.

 

2. Relationship Management

- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients and develop relationships with new clients to expand SMBC’s franchise with primary focus on Singapore.

- Support GRMs in managing client relationships and in cross-selling the Bank’s products and services, including trade finance and credit facilities.

- Participate in client meetings and provide senior support on key relationships where required.

 

3. Portfolio Management and Singapore Credit Facilities Administration

- Control, supervise, and monitor the assigned ICIB Singapore portfolio, including performance, asset quality, utilisation, and profitability.

- Ensure that Singapore credit facilities, trade limits, and transactional lines are properly structured, approved, set up, and maintained in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

- Work closely with Credit / Risk, Legal & Compliance, Strategy & Planning, and Middle Office / Operations to ensure:

- Facility and security documentation is complete, accurate, and properly executed;

- Conditions precedent, covenants, and reporting requirements are complied with;

- Trade and transactional requests are processed accurately and in a timely manner.

- Monitor utilisation, excesses, expiries, exceptions, and breaches, and ensure timely follow-up, escalation, and remediation actions.

- Ensure periodic credit reviews, renewals, amendments, and limit adjustments are completed in accordance with internal guidelines.

 

4. Credit Risk Management, Governance, and Controls

- Ensure strict compliance with the Bank’s credit policies, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements in respect of ICIB Singapore business.

- Work closely with Credit / Risk, Legal & Compliance, Strategy & Planning, and Middle Office / Operations on credit approvals, reviews, waivers, and ongoing risk management.

- Ensure early identification and escalation of problem accounts, deterioration in asset quality, or control weaknesses.

- Promote a strong culture of risk awareness, documentation discipline, and control ownership, particularly in relation to Singapore credit and trade activities.

 

5. Audit, Regulatory, and Supervisory Matters

- Act as the key point of coordination for internal audits, external audits, and regulatory or supervisory reviews relating to ICIB Singapore business.

- Ensure timely and accurate provision of information to auditors and regulators, and effective coordination across stakeholders.

- Oversee the tracking, remediation, and closure of audit findings, regulatory observations, and control issues within agreed timelines.

- Ensure that the team maintains a high level of audit readiness and regulatory compliance at all times.

 

6. Operations, Compliance, and Process Management

- Ensure that all activities of the team are conducted in accordance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

- Oversee KYC, periodic reviews, documentation updates, and compliance matters to ensure timely completion and proper record keeping.

- Work with Middle Office / Operations, Legal & Compliance, and Credit / Risk to improve process efficiency, turnaround time, and control standards for credit and trade-related transactions.

- Address operational issues, audit findings, and control gaps in a timely and effective manner.

 

7. Team and Stakeholder Management

- Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the team to ensure effective execution of responsibilities.

- Allocate work, monitor performance, and support staff development within the team.

- Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders, including Credit / Risk, Legal & Compliance, Strategy & Planning, Middle Office / Operations, product teams, and audit functions, to ensure smooth end-to-end execution.

 

Qualifications and Experience

- At least 20 years of relevant experience in corporate or institutional banking, with strong exposure to Singapore credit facilities, trade finance, transactional banking, and portfolio management.

- Professional degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Law, or a related discipline

- Good understanding of credit processes, documentation, collateral management, and operational workflows.

- Sound knowledge of banking regulations, internal policies, audit requirements, and control standards.

- Ideally, someone with senior-level experience and deep expertise in the Indian market, regulatory landscape, and a broad range of corporate banking products, including syndicated loans, portfolio management, trade finance, and transaction banking

- Strong coordination, execution, and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail, control discipline, and governance mindset.

- Support transition and handover activities within ICIB Singapore (India Corporate and Investment Banking Singapore) as required.

- Proficiency in Hindi would be an added advantage
