Job Summary
- Ensuring achievement and maintenance of acceptable credit standard and loan asset quality in accordance with the regulatory requirements and the Bank’s credit related direction.
- Ensuring adequate and proper credit policies, procedures and supporting mechanisms in managing credit risks and aligned to local regulations, shariah requirements, internal rules, leading practices, and business needs.
- Managing ESG risk related initiatives of the Bank including development of policies in relation to climate risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Credit Analysis and Assessment

- Provide independent assessment on the Credit Analysis and Assessment by identifying material issues such as cashflow which could cause deterioration in customer credit profile and ensuring appropriate mitigants measurements as well as compliance to the relevant policies and procedures to enable decision makers to formulate well-informed decisions for new and existing loan portfolios.
- Ensure full compliance of the credit analysis and assessment such as BNM Credit Risk Policy Document (including Restructuring & Rescheduling), BNM CCPT Requirements, Single Counterparty Exposure Limits Policy Document, Connected Parties, MFRS 9 staging requirements, Basel requirements and etc.
- Ensure the credit applications are approved by the appropriate approving authority.
- Ensure proper management of Credit Committee (CC) Meeting and Board approval papers submission and review the minutes of CC Meeting prepared by the team.
- Review all credit applications raised by Front Office as well as to challenge the credit applications for proactiveness identification and management of identified risk.
- Provide regular update on certain loans approval categories to Management and Board of Directors for monitoring and early measures being taken on identified potential issues (e.g., Quarterly Update on Project Finance/ Development Loans Approved by the BOD).
- Ensure the timeline of submission of the credit analysis and assessment.
- Provide guidance and training to the credit analysis and assessment team and frontline periodically as well as to share lessons learned.

- Department Management

- Ensure appropriate action plans and contingency plans are in place to manage irregular matters (such as breaches and errors) and crisis situations respectively in CRD; including timely reporting to management and RHO.
- Monitor the efficiency of credit supporting mechanism such as providing support to Credit Administration, Legal Department, Compliance and etc
- Provide support and advisory that include periodic discussion with Front Office and to raise awareness and ensure alignment between risk and business objectives.
- Maintain a good and co-operative relationship in dealing with regulator or internal/external auditors
- Manage and improve staff performance to ensure the Department’s KPI is met at all times.
- Take necessary actions to ensure the staffs has the appropriate skills set and ensure staff can act as back up for each and other in terms of leave and emergency.
- Assume responsibility of other relevant tasks as assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements
- Degree or professional qualification in Finance, business, economics, accountancy, banking or related discipline.
- Relevant AICB certification; Certified Credit Professional (Business) or Bank Risk management.
- In depth knowledge of Credit (Credit Assessment and Credit Risk) as well as sustainability and ESG international standards/principles and best practices and relevance to the risk management.
- Minimum 15 years experiences in credit evaluation/approval (2nd LOD functions) with total of minimum of 15 years in credit related areas including minimum of 5 years position as a Head of Department.
- Experienced as Business/ Corporate Relationship Manager/Credit Analyst (1st LOD) will have an added advantage.
- Well verse in overall credit operations (1st and 2nd LOD functions)
- Possess good command of English, proficient in both written and oral communication skill, strong analytical and report writing ability.
- Strong problem-solving capability to formulate and innovate strategies and solutions to deliver and coordinate the achievement of high-performance results and mission-critical goals.
- Possess professional and interpersonal skills to establish good rapport and working relationship with stakeholders which includes ability to interact and communicate well with the regulator/external auditor.
- Ability to multi-task, independent, disciplined, self-motivated, agile, work under pressure to meet deadlines set, and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Has good understanding and ability of financial statements and cash flow analysis.
- Able to present reports to Management and Board.
