MD, Deputy Head of Japanese & Korean Corporate Banking
Job Purpose
This is a senior management role responsible for leading the entire regional Japanese and Korean Corporate Banking department in Asia Pacific (JBAP) at MD level.
The role oversees relationship management teams across 8 countries and provides strategic direction for the business. This also includes supervisory responsibilities for Business Control Officer (BCO) ensuring effective risk management and business control across the JBAP region.
Job Responsibilities
Business Planning & Performance Management
- Lead business planning and periodic performance reviews for JBAP, reporting key insights to senior management
- Oversee the implementation of strategic business initiatives in JBAP
- Provide oversight on compliance and governance matters in JBAP to support Business Control Officer (BCO)
- Foster a strong compliance culture within JBAP ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory standards
- Strengthen risk management frameworks to mitigate operational, financial and regulatory risks.
Financial & Budget Management
- Oversee budget allocation, including gross profit and expenses, ensuring financial control across all teams
- Manage the department’s balance sheet, optimizing financial performance, profitability and resource allocation
- Establish performance evaluations to align financial objectives with business goals
- Set KPIs aligned with business plans
HR Related Items
- Manage headcount control, supporting talent acquisition, retention and resource planning
- Assist the GM with staff evaluations, promotions and compensation decisions
Job Requirements
- Business planning and marketing experience in Banking sector with at least 15 years
- Proficiency in Japanese is preferred as this role needs to create some reports to relevant department in Head Office in Japanese
- Knowledge of Japanese Banking Law is an advantage.
