Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Execution

• Lead the execution of regional IT strategies aligned with SMBC’s global vision under regional CIO.
• Lead specific transformation initiatives (e.g., Branch Strategy, GCC capability build-outs).
• Contribute to strategic initiatives in core banking systems, Cash management systems, Treasury systems including head office system migration.

Delivery & Governance

• Oversee delivery of key technology projects across APAC region.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal governance frameworks.
• Monitor vendor performance and offshore development center operations.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Manage and mentor mid-level domain heads, team leaders.
• Foster cross-cultural collaboration across Japan, India.
• Act as a bridge between senior leadership and technical teams.

Requirements

• 15+ years in IT roles within financial institutions, with regional exposure.
• Proven track record in project delivery, team management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Practical experience in overseeing diverse, multicultural teams, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment
• Proficient in utilizing digital tools and platforms designed for shared services, enhancing operational efficiencies and service delivery
• Experience working with offshore development centers (India preferred).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proficiency in Japanese Language will be advantageous.
