SMBC Global Transaction Banking Department, Asia Pacific is driving product capabilities and innovation to deliver next-generation cash management capabilities for corporate clients.

 

The Liabilities Management Product Manager will play a critical role in shaping and delivering best-in-class Liabilities products and solutions across Asia Pacific.  Reporting to the Liabilities & Liquidity Management Product Lead, this role will collaborate with Sales, Operations, IT and Country Teams to define strategies, develop roadmaps and implement Liabilities products and solutions that address client needs, regulatory requirements and market trends.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused professional with expertise in TB product management, in particular Liabilities products and solutions, to lead critical initiatives within the APAC region.

 

Job Responsibilities:

This role will assist and support the hiring manager in the development, commercialization and management of cash management solutions in Asia Pacific.  His/her primary responsibility and focus will be the product development and management of Liabilities products and solutions.  He/she will also support virtual account management and liquidity management products and solutions.

 

1. Product Strategy, Development & Commercialization

  • Develop, manage, commercialize and roll out cash management products and services in all Asia Pacific countries, in particular Liabilities products and solutions.
  • Formulate and implement Liabilities growth strategies for different industry verticals/client segments.
  • Define and execute the Liabilities product roadmap aligned with client needs, growth strategies, operational efficiency and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead product definition, scope, requirements gathering, testing and commercialization activities to deliver value-added products and solutions to clients.
  • Support virtual account management and liquidity management products and solutions as a secondary responsibility. 
  • Be domain expert handling all aspects of product planning including product approval, product design, process planning, legal documentation, and providing RFP, pre-sales and post-sales support to Sales teams.

 

2. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work with Sales, Operations, Service, Legal and Compliance and Country stakeholders to understand market, regulatory and client requirements.
  • Drive product delivery by collaborating with Head Office, IT and subject matter experts to establish timelines and ensure execution excellence.
  • Drive product readiness for client and internal teams by collaboration with Head Office, Operations, Implementation, Service, Sales, cross functional teams, and country stakeholders.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is must.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in transaction banking.
  • The candidate should possess experience in Liabilities products and solutions, preferably in product management and delivery within APAC region.
  • Knowledge of Liabilities solutions (viz. LD, FD, call/notice accounts/deposits, flexi deposits, etc.) across Asia Pacific markets is essential.
  • Ability to formulate and implement Liabilities growth strategies for different industry verticals/client segments and experience in identifying new liabilities opportunities, resulting in significant liabilities growth is also vital.
  • Experience in and knowledge of Liquidity Management solutions (viz. cash pooling, notional pooling, interest optimization, netting, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Prior experience in developing and launching new products and systems is an asset.
