Job Summary

 

  • Relationship Manager cum Global Relationship Manager, responsible for developing and managing existing client relationships and new clients.  Accountable for both outbound and inbound businesses, leveraging on the bank’s network, SMBC multi-franchise entities and the group’s capabilities including business matching, corporate finance, debt capital market activities etc.
  • Responsible for all credit related matters on respective portfolio, working closely with and/or guiding the Assistant Relationship Manager (“ARM”) to address them. Work as a team to conduct in-depth credit analysis and comprehensive credit assessment.  
  • Strong understanding of credit risks and controls. Compliance with internal policies and guidelines as well as regulatory requirements at all times.
  • A team player and has good working relationships with key stakeholders.  Possess leadership skills in managing difficult situations.
  • Be a sector specialist with ability to spot and capture business opportunities within the sector eco-system. Providing end-to-end solutions to clients.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Actively managing existing clients, identifying and acquiring new clients to meet targets and grow the business. Focus on deals origination and execution, drive account strategy and planning, cross-selling of bank products and managing portfolio returns.
  • Drive account planning process, opportunity spotting, preparation of sales pitch and deal execution together with the relevant product teams.
  • Work closely with team members, product partners and SMBC network on deal structuring, pricing and execution as well as drive utilisation to meet team’s objectives.
  • Ensure quality credit assessment and timely submission of relevant applications in Global Business Reengineering system (“GBR”) including credit proposition, credit monitoring and reviews, stress testing as well as ad-hoc monitoring, requests and/or reviews.
  • Adherence to credit controls of SMBC Malaysia, SMBC Labuan and SMBC Group at all times, by maintaining constant communication with Credit Control Department, Credit Risk Department and Regional Credit Departments. Timely escalation of any material risk issue for early credit management and/or monitoring to prevent credit delinquency.
  • Monitor the financial and business performance of customers and report to management/ raise the necessary reports on any adverse/ latest news within stipulated timeline. Early identification and detection of credit and/or industry issues and work closely with ARM and relevant credit departments to constructively address credit concerns.
  • Closely collaborate with ARM and Client Managers (“CM”) to ensure key responsibilities are executed seamlessly.
  • Keeping close to market development of the industry/ industries and economic conditions to spot business opportunities and/or identify concerns.
  • Conduct regular customer visit/ site visit.
  • Engages and participate in team and bank-wide initiatives.

 

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Banking & Finance, Accounting and/or related field with more than 10 years experience in client relationship management in banking is required.
