Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Australia, Structured Finance Department, this position will provide professional administrative, secretarial and business support to the Structured Finance Department, Asia Pacific (“SFDA”) teams in Sydney.

 

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide timely and accurate administrative support to senior management.
  • Provide day-to-day assistance to SFDA Sydney teams, including meeting coordination, filing, documentation, and general office tasks.
  • Provide support to the planning function of SFDA Sydney, including expense budgeting/tracking.
  • Handle travel bookings, accommodation, approvals, and expense claim processing.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensure adherence to regulatory and company policies, and maintain compliance documentation.
  • Prepare presentations and reports on behalf of senior managers for presentation to external and internal parties.
  • Develop and maintain close contacts within the banking and non-bank financial services industry community.
  • Help SMBC Sydney branch achieve successful audit outcomes.
  • Prepare departmental reports, maintain registers, and manage internal data sources.
  • Assist with ad hoc internal/external events organised by SFDA, projects, business process improvements, and prepare presentations for senior management.
  • Liaise with internal departments, manage entertainment/gift approvals, and source relevant company information.
  • Other duties as required by SMBC

 

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 5 years of corporate administration experience, with proven support to senior management and strong business communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and deal with people in a cooperative manner at different levels.
  • Good organisational & time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a good attention to detail; work autonomously or, with minimal instruction.
  • Excellent Microsoft skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and desk top publishing skills.
  • Proactive self-starter, flexible and adaptable outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability in undertaking research assignments and presenting information logically.
  • Methodical, analytical and mature approach to working with others.
