Due to expansion, we are hiring a Senior Analyst in our Energy, Materials and Infrastructure team within Corporate Banking Department. Reporting to the Vice President, this position will undertake detailed credit-analysis of corporate banking transactions, including financial modelling and developing reports. This position will be responsible for the preparation of credit applications and managing the administrative processes associated with deal execution and ongoing portfolio management.
The role will include participation in origination, assisting in the marketing of SMBC’s products and services. This position will play a key role within the Australian Corporate Banking Team and the successful candidate will be a key member when executing transactions.
Reporting to the Vice President, EMI, Corporate Banking Department, these positions will be responsible for the following:
- Delivering detailed credit , ESG and financial analysis of institutional customers and potential deals.
- Working with financial models and modeling cash flows and financial information in order to undertake financial analysis.
- Preparing applications to seek credit and ESG approval for transactions and managing the negotiation and execution of facility documentation.
- Manage the loan and ISDA documentation negotiation and execution in conjunction with relationship managers of the team, including the Head of EMI, Director or Vice President.
- Participating as a member of the EMI, Australia team in servicing the clients day-to-day requirements over existing products.
- Supporting the Head of EMI, Australia and relationship managers within the EMI team with the origination of transactions, identification and support with the implementation of flow banking initiatives and assisting with completing relevant client meeting reports and presentation materials.
- Assisting with the ongoing credit, compliance and general administration of the EMI portfolio.
To succeed in these roles you will have:
- 3+ years of relevant experience as an Assistant Relationship Manager or Credit Analyst, ideally within a Bank or Financial Institution in a deal origination team.
- Awareness and reasonable understanding of Institutional Banking financial products and services.
- High level ability to understand and interpret financial statements and conduct financial modelling.
- Advanced understanding of credit processes within a bank and related administration.
- Strong level of numeracy and financial analysis skills.
- Influencing skills both in writing through presenting a persuasive argument and verbally.
- Ability to condense complex issues into a readable format in report writing or through other communications.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Tertiary qualifications in a business relevant field.
