Due to continued growth, we have a new opportunity to join our Japanese and Korean Corporate Banking, Asia Pacific (JBAP) department. This position will undertake detailed credit analysis of corporate customers and transactions, including financial modeling and developing reports. It will undertake the administrative processes related to credit, cash management and support the business activities in marketing the company’s comprehensive products.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Head of Marketing, JBAP Australia; this position will be responsible for the following:
- Delivering credit analysis and financial analysis of institutional customers and potential deals.
- Working with financial models and modeling cash flows and financial information to undertake financial analysis.
- Preparing papers in co-operation with Front Office Managers to present to SMBC Credit Departments both locally and globally with Head Office.
- Participating in Deal Teams to support the Front Office Managers on new business opportunities through analysis and review of financial information.
- Identify customer needs and recognize cross-selling opportunities and new prospects such as encourage existing and new customers to increase any kinds of transactions (loan, FX, deposits, and new products).
- Assisting with the ongoing credit, compliance and general administration of the portfolio.
- Review portfolio and liaise with clients for new and maturing loans & deposits.
- Liaise with Loans Administration and Treasury to facilitate clients funding requests.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Relevant experience as an Assistant Relationship Manager or Credit Analyst, ideally within a Bank or Financial Institution in a deal origination team.
- Awareness and reasonable understanding of Institutional Banking financial products and services.
- High level ability to understand and interpret financial statements and conduct financial modelling.
- Advanced understanding of credit processes within a bank and related administration.
- Strong level of numeracy and financial analysis skills.
- Influencing skills both in writing through presenting a persuasive argument and verbally.
- Ability to condense complex issues into a readable format in report writing or through other communications.
- Tertiary qualifications in a business relevant field.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English and Japanese (essential).
