Job Description
- Plan, implement and support IT solutions / projects in database services.
- Administer and maintain databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, etc.) to ensure efficient capacity and performance.
- Perform database backups, restore procedures, and disaster recovery planning.
- Conduct regular disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity test plan for database, minimize downtime for disaster recover test and meeting defined recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize queries, indexing, and system resources.
- Implement regular patching and updates to the database, ensuring that the system is up-to-date security patches and features.
- Implement and maintain high availability database service throught application cluster, HA solution such as Always On availability groups (AOAG) or Dataguard.
- Follow a structured change management process for database updates, patches, and configuration changes, ensuring that these changes do not introduce new risks or vulnerabilities.
- Perform risk assessments of database systems and apply necessary mitigations to reduce identified risks to acceptable levels.
- Ensure databases compliance with head office rules, local regulations (e.g., Bank Negara Malaysia requirements) and industry standards.
- Participate in internal and external audits of database systems to evaluate compliance with internal SMBC policies & local regulations.
Job Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in IT or Computer Science
- Minimum 3 years experiences in IT infrastructure (advantage in Financial Institution), working in DR capacity
- Database (Microsoft / Non-Microsoft) technical support / configurations / installations.
