Job Responsibilities

 

Insurance Business

  • The position requires independent leadership role to deliver on Credit Risk Insurance business initiatives and to continue to grow placement volumes in Asia

  • The role entails developing a robust operational and compliance framework for Insurance business, including compliance with HO and APAC regulations and internal guideline

  • Monitoring and ensuring timely execution, reporting, filing and completion of Compliance related activities as per Insurance Manual

  • All solicting, executing/placing, monitoring and reporting on all Insurance (credit insurance) related matters for SMBC as may be required by front office in Asia Pacific (for trade and non-trade) and East Asia (for non-trade).

  • To lead the distribution of transactions and provide transaction structuring inputs to ensure maximum insurance underwriter interest and successful distribution of transactions into the credit insurance market.

  • The position will also be responsible for managing the relationship with the credit risk insurance and surety teams of the brokers and insurance underwriters that SMBC deals with in Asia.

  • The officer will be responsible for coordinating with the front office/credit department, legal and compliance department, Global insurance teams.

  • The officer will also be assisting the front office to recover on claims on insured transactions.

 

Job Requirements

  • Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/ Finance/ Accounting

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Banking or Credit Insurance markets involving underwriting and/or placements of credit and political risk insurance coverage

  • Strong Credit analysis and credit structuring skills and experience. 

  • Deep understanding of Credit Specialties Markets and various insurance products 

  • Proficient in  insurance documentation and policy wordings.

  • Strong relationship with Credit Specialties Insurance market players such as brokers and global insurance counterparties

  • Must have a track record of sales focus and closure orientation

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications – Word, Excel, Power Point

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Attention to details and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines

  • Self driven and a positive attitude
