This position is responsible for the origination and execution of project and structured finance transactions as well as financial advisory services consistent with the objectives of Structured Finance Department Asia and SMBC Group. The key responsibilities of this role include undertaking detailed credit and financial analysis of Project and Structured Finance transactions that assists with enhancing customer revenues and ROEs. The role will cover Mining & Metals, Energy, and Natural Resources sectors.

 

You will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Enhancing reputation of the bank by originating and executing transactions and introducing new clients to the bank.
  • Prepare and supervise credit applications for new transactions, including technical, financial and financing structure elements to present to Credit.
  • Negotiation of documentation and closing of potential transactions.
  • Assist in enhancing the reputation of SMBC as a preferred Project /Structured Finance Bank whilst contributing to meeting agreed team targets.
  • Supporting senior managers on new business opportunities through analysis and review of financial information.
  • Prepare presentations and reports on behalf of senior managers for presentation to external and internal parties.
  • Develop and maintain close contacts within the banking and non-bank financial services industry community.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all laws, regulations and branch policies and procedures, which apply to SMBC and/or its operations.
  • Other duties as required by SMBC. 

 

To succeed in this role, you will have:

 

  • Minimum of 8 years of project finance, structured finance, or corporate finance experience.
  • Experience in arranging/advising on transactions in the infrastructure, oil & gas, power & utilities, mining & metals or natural resources sectors.
  • Track-record of originating and closing deals in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Understanding of credit risk of transactions and evaluating credit of complex transactions.
  • Strong financial & analytical skills.
