Due to continuous growth, we have a new opportunity within our Global Markets and Treasury Department. This position is responsible for managing Global Markets Sales transactions and any other financial product as required for SMBC’s customers. In addition, this position will enhance relationships with customers by offering high-level customer service and enhance the promotion of Global Markets Sales products to maximize customer dealing. This position will ensure the control of transaction executions in compliance with both internal limits, external regulations, and achieving budget.
Reporting to the Head of Global Macro Sales, this position will be responsible for:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions and corporate clients to support long-term business growth.
- Execute Global Markets transactions across FX, Rates, and Deposits with a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Provide pricing, quoting, and execution services while actively managing associated risks.
- Identify client needs and deliver tailored Global Markets solutions aligned with their objectives.
- Prepare and distribute timely market updates, insights, and trade ideas based on market developments.
- Collaborate closely with traders, economists, and strategists to enhance client engagement and solution delivery.
- Ensure all transactions are executed with precision and in accordance with internal standards.
- Complete all required system entries and documentation to meet risk and credit control requirements.
- Ensure appropriate legal agreements (e.g., ISDA/CSA) and credit facilities are established prior to transacting.
- Adhere strictly to SMBC policies, regulatory obligations, and the FX Global Code.
- Maintain all required industry accreditations and complete mandatory training requirements.
- Proactively identify opportunities for new business development and product enhancement.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in banking or financial services.
- 5–7 years’ experience in Financial Markets sales and execution.
- Proven experience (2–3 years) covering financial institutions, ideally including superannuation funds and asset managers.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility internally and externally.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated sales and negotiation capability, or a strong willingness to develop these skills.
- Ability to deliver high-quality presentations to senior stakeholders and clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Banking, or a related discipline.
- Relevant industry accreditation (e.g., AFMA) preferred.
