Reporting to the Executive Director, Head of Structured Credit, Australia, this newly created role within the Structured Credit Group (SCG) will be responsible for helping grow the franchise and ensuring the achievement of business objectives and KPIs across Australia and the broader APAC region. The role will support the endtoend origination and execution of structured credit / direct lending transactions across the capital structure, ensure the portfolio maintains appropriate credit quality, contribute to the delivery of broader APAC growth targets, and ensure full adherence to all SMBC policies and procedures.

 

This position will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

 

  • Originate, structure and execute bespoke debt financing solutions across the capital structure, including acquisition and leverage finance transactions.
  • Lead the drafting, negotiation and execution of termsheets.
  • Conduct due diligence and prepare credit applications for financing transactions.
  • Review and negotiate loan documentation.
  • Proactively identify improvements, initiatives and new product opportunities to drive revenue and enhance the value proposition of SPDASCG.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, sponsors and other market participants.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and expand new business opportunities.
  • Comply with all internal policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines.

 

To succeed in this role, you will have:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in banking, private credit or structured finance.
  • Strong credit analysis capabilities and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to draft termsheets, credit papers, pitch materials and other transaction documents.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and project management skills.
  • Strong personal network within the financial markets or broader industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel financial modelling, Word and PowerPoint.
  • University graduate with strong academic background.
  • A team player who is also independent, selfmotivated, resourceful and solutionsoriented.
